I hate to be political on this site, but it seems fitting. When will Germany wake up?

Americans Are Drinking Beer After the Election
I can only guess at what the politically-correct German media is reporting to all our friends in Germany about the election of Donald Trump. Suffice to say, Americans are a pretty divided people when it comes to politics.
Some are drinking beer.
The other half? They are drinking beer.

I'm Getting the German Beer Jones
That's an old expression about heroin addiction in the inner city. Not having been back to Germany in three years, I need to get back and taste some real beer. The only chance I get here is when I am in Vegas and dining at the Hofbrauhaus. They ship it in in kegs from the Munich facility and the taste is authentic.
We just had a new pub open up near my house and they have Spaten on tap in liter sized glasses. Alas, the taste is not truly authentic although I once dined at their own restaurant in Munich, and didn't consider Spaten to be one of the city's better brews. (Nice glass and logo, however.)
I am presently working on the Feldmarshal (my wife) to consent to a trip to Germany next year for Erlangen's beer fest (Bergkirchweih). It runs June 1-12, 2017. Problem is she thinks Erlangen is too small and boring. To me, it's like a second home since I was stationed there in the Army (1966-68) and wrote a book on its history. Will There Soon Be a New Reinheitsgebot in Germany?
This week, Germany celebrated the 500th anniversary of the famed Bavarian Reinheitsgebot (Purity Law), which in 1516 specified that only three ingredients could be used in brewing beer- water, hops and malt (later amended to include yeast). This spread all over Germany and helped make German beer the best in the world.
Yet, with the current situation in Germany with the migrants, refugees, and illegal immigrants, most of whom are Muslim, many of whom are acting like they own the place, I wonder what the future holds for beer in Germany. I mean could Clausthaler become the biggest beer in Germany soon?
Or the only beer?

A Bitburger in a Can???
All my life I had never had a good experience with Bitburger beer. The only time I may have had one in Germany was in Erlangen many years ago (or was it a Warsteiner?). Anyway, I went to a Superbowl gathering Sunday with my in-laws and one of our nephews brought me a 6-pack of Bitburger in cans. I wasn't expecting much, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The taste was smooth, reminiscent of authentic German beer taste, and poured with a great head just like in the Old Country.
On the other hand, it's now been three years since I was last in Germany. Maybe I'm forgetting what the true taste is.
